We contributed manga/illustration artwork used on screen in the Hulu original drama “The Mystery of the Swiss Watch.”
This series is a live-action mystery drama adapted from “The Mystery of the Swiss Watch,” a short story from Alice Arisugawa’s popular “Hideo Himura” mystery series.
The story centers on a murder that occurs at a reunion of mystery novelist Alice Arisugawa’s former high school classmates. Using the matching Swiss watches worn by the attendees, and the fact that only the victim was not wearing one, as clues, clinical criminologist Hideo Himura closes in on the truth behind the case.
The production brings to the screen the original story’s appeal — a meticulous chain of reasoning that arrives at the truth from limited information — while emphasizing the realism unique to live-action and the tension characteristic of mystery works.
As part of this production, we were involved in creating the manga/illustration artwork that appears on screen, producing the visual materials used within the world of the story.
