Meiyu is a young girl who uses the art of the bedchamber to heal the illnesses and injuries of customers in a village of courtesans. One day, the third wife of the Lao family, the most prominent textile merchant in town, visits Meiyu after hearing rumors that she possesses this special ability, and brings her into the Lao household. The wife’s goal is to use the art of the bedchamber to make her husband hers alone. She plans to use Meiyu to learn the technique herself, but Meiyu has plans of her own—to use the wife as a stepping stone to rise in the world…
