Label Illustration for Kikyo no Sato — Shiojiri Specialty Furusato Nozei Reward Wine (100% Concord)

We created the label illustration for the furusato nozei (hometown tax) reward edition of “Kikyo no Sato,” a wine made with 100% Concord grapes, a specialty of Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture. The design is built around the “Chinese bellflower (kikyo),” the official flower of Shiojiri City, depicting a landscape of lush vineyards with a view toward the “Hiraide Ruins,” a symbol of the local hometown.

We also included “Genbanojo,” a figure from local Shiojiri folklore, alongside a young girl, to express a warm world that reflects the culture rooted in the region and the connections between its people.

Beautiful nature, a rich harvest, and a hometown scenery that feels nostalgic and warm.

We packed the local scenery and story into a single illustration, so that the charm of Shiojiri City captured in the name “Kikyo no Sato” could be felt through just one label.

We finished the design to convey the product’s individuality and world while staying true to its appeal as a local specialty.
